CLUBS affiliated to the Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association could face disciplinary action for failing to attend scheduled meetings.
Association president Ralph Tarasomo warned the clubs after six of them, including reigning champions PNG Power, failed to attend the first club delegates meeting last Wednesday.
The clubs who failed to attend were PNG Power, Brown Eagles, Samurai, Bears, Tikina and Queensland Lifters.
He said clubs failing to attend the first meeting would be warned.
If they are not present for the second meeting they will get a second warning and, if they fail to attend a meeting for the third time, they could face disciplinary action, including termination from the competition.
Bears vice-president Ian Soweni urged the association executive to give advance notice to clubs for meetings.
He said the advice for the first meeting came a day before the meeting and club delegates did not attend because it was short notice.
Soweni added that a log of emails depended on the network and servers to be delivered and advance notices a day or two earlier should be appropriate for club officials to prepare and attend meetings.
Tarasomo said the meeting had agreed that there would be a pre-season competition starting this weekend.
The meeting also proposed that the competition will be named the Henry Kila challenge after the late sports administrator. The idea was approved by Kila’s son, Guy.
Dick Bart Jr of United Brothers also suggested that PNG Softball Federation should name a national tournament under the late Kila.
Tarasomo also advised clubs that there would be an U16 competition, which would start during the 2010-11 season.
The meeting also received two requests from Stingerz and Boroko Bullets club to be admitted to the A grade men’s competition.
Wendy Kalas Siare requested for the Stingerz’s to be admitted to the A grade while Bullets club official Camillius Kona paid K500 to be admitted to the A and B grade divisions.
Association secretary Dean Ani advised the clubs on the following fees for 2010-11 season: training ground fees (K300 per club), club fees (K150), players registration (K15) and team registration (K50).
