SEPIK Futsal Association (SFA) completed its first fundraising cleanathon activity last Saturday.
SFA’s spokesperson Clarence Hukahu said on Sunday that the cleanathon was part of a series of fundraising activities to send an U20 men’s and women’s team to the national championships later in the year.
The cleanathon group comprised 18 girls, 22 boys and three adult-supervisors.
The group started at Moem Barracks, at 6am on the eastern end of Wewak and came along the freeway and ended at the Caltex volleyball courts area at 11.30am.
SFA’s other fundraising activity is the Futsal tournament that will be held this weekend at Moem Barracks.
The Queen’s Birthday competition will also include women.
Hukahu said the cleanathon had positive response from the public.
Two more cleanathon activities are planned for June 18 and 25 in which the group would clean up the seaside centre from Caltex towards the town area.
