Share rebate with districts

THE Morobe government and the Lae City Council should distribute some of the goods and service tax (GST) revenues rebate from the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) to other districts.
We should not pump the 20 per cent rebate to the Lae district authority and leave out growing districts such as Bulolo, Finschhafen and Markham because that is where most GST tax payers come from.
People from these districts contribute hugely to Morobe’s taxes.
Some of these money should return to these districts to help develop them, especially on road maintenance so that more people can travel to do their business.
The 20 per cent refund should be split among Lae, Bulolo, Markham and Finschhafen.
Let them have 5 per cent each.
I am urging the three district MPs and LLG presidents to ensure that they get their share of the GST tax refunds.
