LAST Friday’s World Food Day celebrations in Manus were filled with creativity and innovations as school students and farmers demonstrated in different forms the importance of food to human kind and the significance of eating a balanced diet.
Prudence Mandrakamu (pictured), who contested the Miss World Food Day Manus 2009, was dressed in foods of different types and kinds.
The 17-year-old lass, from Bipi Island, is a Grade 11 student at Manus Secondary School. The food items used in her body decoration included egg shells, beans, corn, coconut shells, carrots, sweet potato, banana and cassava – all representing the different food groups.
