Shipping firm buys two vessels

 A SHIPPING company has acquired two bigger vessels to address cargo transportation problems at the country’s ports.

Consort Express Lines has bought two vessels mv Gazelle Coast which arrived in Lae last Thursday and mv Bougainville Coast which will arrive at the end of the month.

The mv Gazelle left Singapore on Sept 20 with Capt Sod Baim at the helm supported by officers Indika Gamage, Albert Pidi and Pitus Simai. 

The two new vessels are the biggest the company has bought so far.

The company plans to provide a safe, efficient and reliable scheduled liner services to the 14 main ports in PNG.

Capt Baim said the vessel was registered with the National Maritime Safety Authority.

The authority will inspect the vessels to make sure they comply with its regulations before issuing registry certificates.

The mv Gazelle can carry 20-foot containers and has a speed of 11 knots.
