The National, Friday 6th of June, 2014
A long-serving shipping firm in the country has become climbed on board to support the 2015 Pacific Games.
Steamships through its subsidiary Coral Sea Hotels will become a gold sponsor for the Games and in doing so has become the thirteenth member of the Pacific Games sponsors family. Games Organising Committee’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Stewart says the Games are delighted to have the support of a company who has operated in PNG for so many years and knows the value of supporting big events such as the Pacific Games.
“Steamships has been in Papua New Guinea for over 90 years and provided services to the people of this country.
“Its support to the Games through this sponsorship shows the company’s continued commitment to serving the country through an event of national significance.
“The 2015 Pacific Games will be at a scale never seen before in PNG and the sponsorship will greatly assist the Games Organising Committee to accommodate meetings and other events in the lead up to the Games”.
Mr Stewart said, the 2015 Pacific Games will put the spotlight on Papua New Guinea and provide a unique opportunity to showcase its capabilities and promote business, investment, trade and tourism.
He said, GOC is pleased to be associated with a company like Steamships whose record of doing business in the country is reputable, and hopes that its support to the Games highlights its commitment.
