Show some respect, minister says after fires

IMBONGGU MP Pila Niningi has called on the people in his electorate to change their thinking and start respecting State properties and basic services.
Niningi, the Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology, was referring to the the burning of a Dash 8 aircraft, the courthouse and the governor’s residence in Mendi last month following a court ruling in the election petition case for the Southern Highlands regional seat.
He said what happened was not right and should not be repeated because services were there to help the people.
He was in his electorate in Southern Highlands to deliver an ambulance to the Buyebi Health Centre.
Niningi said that he, too, had not been happy with election results in the past but he had not taken the law into his own hands by targeting State properties.
