Show the Chief some respect

The National, Thursday 29th December 2011

SINCE the Supreme Court decision on Dec 12, I have been monitoring the moves made by the O’Neill-Namah regime as it clings onto power desperately.
It is obvious the government wants to control the national coffer going into the general election.
The Constitution is supreme and the O’Neill regime is using its numbers in parliament to amend certain acts within a space of 14 days.
The latest bill passed last week limited the age of a prime minister to 72.
I support the comments by another elder statesman, Sir Julius Chan, who spoke against it.
The Grand Chief is a man of wisdom and he will continue to serve his people until they tell him to retire.
The way the desperate MPs kicked him out of parliament was undignified and unjust.
Peter O’Neill may have done well in the past four months but the political impasse has caused him to lose focus and his actions have led to many Papua New Guineans to question his true motive.
