SOUTHERN Highlands leader Dickson Pena Tasi has called on all youths to change their attitudes in order to see and experience changes in their LLG wards, community and district.
Tasi made the remarks during the official launch of the K9 Youth Business Development Inc (K9 YBDI) at Kagua station, Southern Highlands, earlier this month.
He said Kagua district was one of the best districts in the Southern Highlands, however, this image had been jeopardised by youths over the years who destroyed government properties, conducted armed robberies and brewed and consumed homebrew as well as other illicit activities.
He said this had hindered the delivery of much-needed services, adding that educated elites and businessmen and women from the district were encouraged not to invest in the district because of the peoples’ attitude.
Tasi, who assisted the youths to actively participate in sporting activities, said he hoped that the new organisation would help change the youths’ attitudes and make them better citizens.
Musa Yagopa and Wasape Yandi, who are both involved in K9 YBDI, said: “The district has been tarnished by the actions of the youths over the years but with the establishment of the organisation (K9 YBDI), we aim to impart some message of hope in to their minds so we can try to work together in partnership with all government agencies, aid donors, leaders, churches, women’s group to see tangible results.”
They also called on local MP James Lagea to honour his commitment of K100,000 made in 2008.
