THE Southern Highlands provincial executive council will review its development priorities to improve service delivery in the province.

Governor William Powi said yesterday his government prioritised infrastructure, law and order, health, education, agriculture and support for small to medium entrepreneurs.

The provincial executive council met yesterday at the seven-storey Agiru Centre conference room with heads of departments to get their views on the poor performances of health and education in the province.

They want to address the issues as captured in the master plan to be launched by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill today.

Powi said he wanted to “cut open the cancer” that was eating into service delivery.

He said through the master plan, he wanted to take a holistic approach to ensure that services were delivered to the people.

He said he wanted to restore and stabilise law and order in the province before any development was to take place.

He said he would continue maintenance and upgrading of roads in the province.

Powi said he had already used K25 million of the provincial services improvement programme funds to upgrade roads in the province.
