ASSESSMENTS of various high and secondary schools in the Southern Highlands to have the ‘Clean IT’ internet service installed have been completed and a final report has been furnished to the provincial administration.

New deputy administrator Jerry David said establishment of all the Clean IT will be done before the end of June this year.

He said the provincial government and the administration would embrace the partnership with Telikom Foundation to attain the results of the Clean IT concept.

“Schools in the Southern Highlands will soon have access to internet through the Telikom Foundation Inc Clean IT programme, thanks to Governor William Powi, the Southern Highlands provincial government and Telikom PNG,” he said.

He said Mendi High School would be the pilot project of Telikom Foundation as it is situated within the town’s vicinity.

A team from the provincial administration, education division and Telikom earlier this month visited Mendi High School, Ialibu Secondary School, Pangia Secondary School, Bui Iebi High School, Mendi School of Nursing, Nipa Secondary, Kumin Primary and North Mendi Primary School to carry out assessment on the ground.

David said the provincial government was embarking public private partnership with state owned enterprises such as Telikom PNG, PNG Power, Water PNG, NBC Southern Highlandsand others to deliver the basic services to its people.

Telikom PNG through its subsidiary Telikom Foundation have launched the Clean it internet service in the country to promote literacy through ICT for students in PNG.
