SHP villagers denied basic services
The National, Monday July 21st, 2014
I WOULD like to applaud the people of Komoli village in Imbongu district, SHP, for taking the initiative to develop their own Health Center as published last Wednesday in The National.
The community of Komoli village for years have been denied basic services, one been a basic Health Center. Despite that, they took the liberty to seek Aus Aid’s help in obtaining a Health Center of their own.
I praise the effort from the people of Komoli for been determined in helping themselves. Over the past years the people of Komoli were not fortunate, as they had to travel distance to the nearest help which is in Mt. Hagen, WHP, to receive medical attention and treatment.
It is a sad fact that villages such as Komili are been denied basic vital services for years and have to go about their own way to help themselves.
Where are the MP’s that the people elected in looking after them?
Where has the district budget gone to that causes substantial farmers and their children to seek help from overseas aids?
What purpose does an elected MP serve if he/she continues to deny people services?
The act of the people of Komoli village has at least brought about hope; that people can resort to help outside their district government.
However, initially it is the job of the district MP to build health centers and serve the people, not fail them.
