THE Solomon Islands have made history as their Under-16 side saw off Fiji 3-1 in their Oceania Football Confederation Championship semifinal on Wednesday to claim their tickets to the Fifa U17 World Cup Peru next year.
Earlier in the day, New Zealand secured a return to the world stage after stepping up in the semifinal to beat Tahiti 4-1 at Lawson Tama Stadium, Honiara, and book their tickets to the World Cup.
Solomons Islands meet New Zealand in Saturday’s final, a rematch of the pool game that the Solomons won 5-nil.
Fiji take on Tahiti on Saturday in the playoff for third.
