Sia continues to back community

TWO Eastern Highlands community organisations are better off with the help of businessman Simon Sia.
Sia donated K5,000 each to the Goroka Show Society and Eastern Highlands Provincial Sports Authority at the Mandarin Restaurant yesterday.
He said he was happy to help the two organisations as they belonged to the Eastern Highlands community.
The provincial sports authority is raising funds for Team Eastern Highlands to compete in the PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain next month.
“They need financial backing to go there take the team over and win medals for the province,” Sia said.
The Eastern Highlands Show Society is preparing for the annual show over the independence weekend.
“The annual show is one of the prime occasions of the province,” Sia said.
Director of Eastern Highlands Sports Authority Kevin Poke thanked Sia, saying the authority needed about K1.2 million to take Team Eastern Highlands to Kokopo.
He said the organisation did not have enough money at present but was still raising funds.
Sia, the major sponsor of the Bintangor Goroka Lahanis for the past six years, said every business houses should feel responsible and support such organisations.
Chairman of the Eastern Highlands Show Society Gideon Samuel also thanked Sia for his support.
