Simberi landowners resolve row with govt

A SUCCESSFUL mediation by Mining Minister John Pundari has resulted in disputing Simberi Mine landowners in New Ireland, signing a joint set of resolutions to resolve their differences over the use of royalty benefits.
Under the leadership of Pundari, a series of meetings from June 10-15 was held between the parties leading to the signing of the resolutions which included among others: 
* Land investigations studies to be conducted to identify legitimate land­owners of Mining Lease 136 area;
* A major reconciliation ceremony to be held between the factions before the MoA Review commences; and
* Review of the 1996 MoA immediately upon completion of the land investigation.
