Simbu provincial appointment backed

Letters

READING from last week’s The National, there is now a new administrator for the Simbu provincial administration. He has been appointed by the National Executive Council to lead the public service there.
I am of the opinion that the best person has been appointed and he has been appointed on merit and nothing else.
Fair and just appointments using set principles and guidelines often result in the appointment of the best person, especially to a dignified post such as this.
For such, the outcome is often good.
That also goes for people who get appointed to other posts like in politics, government committees, statutory boards and so forth.
Unfair selections often end with negative results.
In many cases, the appointment processes and procedures are often hijacked along the way, resulting in the jobs going to cronies.
