THE Chimbu Students’ Association at the University of PNG gifted a laptop, printer and a flash drive to the Simbu Children’s Foundation (SCF).
The presentation was made during the orientation programme of first-year students at UPNG on Friday.
Association president Glen Daugil thanked the students for their time and collaborative efforts to raise funds for the gifts.
“The foundation has supported and helped save many lives and as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, the society through its fundraising programmes and the support received from sponsors last year, we give this to recognise the good work of the foundation for our Chimbu people,” he said.
Daugil encouraged the students to work with the new students’ executives this year and challenge them to continue to support the people of Chimbu.
The foundation’s Port Moresby team coordinator, Esther Nombri, said: “You have a well-organised society and you guys should be proud of yourselves, especially with the programmes you had last year and I encourage the new executives to carry on with the programmes that you have been running.”
Nombri said SCF was a voluntary organisation and encouraged students to join and help.
“The biggest programmer SCF do is the Brave Hearts, which will be coming up in July,” she said.
“We also have a few programmes that we are running throughout the year.”
