Sir Bob, Lady Emeline visit food company, tour factories

GOVERNOR-General Sir Bob Dadae recently toured one of the country’s oldest and largest foods manufacturing companies, Paradise Foods Ltd, at its headquarters in Port Moresby.
Sir Bob and Lady Emeline toured the food factories which included Em Nau biscuits, chocolate-coated Rokrok and Oro biscuits and Queen Emma chocolates.
Paradise Foods Ltd group chief executive officer James Rice introduced Sir Bob and Lady Emeline to a variety of products the company manufactures including crisps, bottled water and ice cream.
Sir Bob acknowledged the staff for their dedication to the company.
“I am pleased to see a 100-percent nationally-owned company that not only manufactures but also produces products that are of high international standard,” he said.
“We have what it takes to produce high quality goods and this will benefit our people more in terms of employment opportunities and generating revenue our nation.
“I am encouraged by the commitment of our people and the success of Paradise Foods thus far. I look forward to seeing the company expand to other parts of the country so that more of our people, food suppliers and local businesses can benefit from this.” Paradise Foods recently acquired Laga Industries, the major manufacturer of ice cream products in the country.
The company employs 1,235 people including those who have been with the company for more than 30 years.
Rice a devout Christian from the United States encourages fellowship and devotion as part of the company’s daily activities for his staff. Rice said it brought positivity and that it resulted in a positive change among staff and a peaceful and cheerful working environment.
