Sir John first in Milne Bay to receive Covid-19 vaccine

MILNE Bay Governor Sir John Luke Crittin was the first to get a jab of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine when it arrived in the province.
The vaccination programme will be carried out in the four districts next week.
Provincial administrator Ashan Numa witnessed the start of the vaccination programme.
Sir John urged everyone not to be brainwashed by negative social media comments regarding the AtraZeneca vaccine.
“The virus is not a joke and because there is no cure for it, it is important that we take the vaccine,” he said. “The numbers are escalating every day and people are dying.
“Please, let us take precautionary measures by following the Covid-19 restrictions.’’
The Milne Bay health authority received 5,100 vaccines for the four districts.
Health officers will be trained in Alotau to administer the vaccine shots to people in their districts.
