“TOGETHER we stand, divided we fall,” PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee secretary-general Sir John Dawanincura said when receiving funds from the PNG Sports Foundation.
Sir John, who is also the chairman of the Committee on HIV Prevention Through Sport, was receiving the second installment of K660,000 from PNG Sports Foundation executive director Iammo Launa on Monday.
The committee will be using the funds to help combat HIV/AIDS.
“HIV is one of the greatest development challenges facing PNG today.
“We must all play our part in the national response to it.
“The sporting community has a special ability to reach young people in grassroots communities across PNG.
“It also has a unique power to bring people together and break down barriers,” Launa said in her opening remarks.
