New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan has opened a traditional meeting house called a haus boi for his Komagot clan in Namatanai.
Sir Julius is the clan leader in Nomorodu village.
Last week, he was accompanied to the village by chief Sammy Missen, the provincial executive council’s infrastructure and works chairman, Rev Salot Taran, and other officials.
Sir Julius said the People’s Progress Party had clear policies but during the last general election at Namatanai, the National Alliance (NA) received strong support.
He said NA promised a new K1000 pension scheme for the old and disabled and because of that, he had to defer his pension offer of K360.
