Sir Puka questions Marape, Basil for not wearing masks

PRIME Minister James Marape and his deputy Sam Basil were questioned in Parliament why they were not wearing masks while conversing inside the chamber.
The question was asked by Abau MP Sir Puka Temu while discussing workplace safety.
Sir Puka pointed out the non-compliance of some MPs who were not wearing masks.
MPs for the first time yesterday had glass partitions around their seats but Sir Puka said they still disregarded safety measures.
“Look at DPM and PM. They are not wearing masks (while) they are talking to each other,” he said.
Pointing to the glass partitions around the tables, Sir Puka said they were “useless”.
Marape responded with a laugh saying: “I have received my vaccine. Sir Puka should know as he is a doctor and not just anybody.”
Marape said the workplace safety in Parliament needed to be secured and assured before the MPs returned.
Parliament had to be adjourned on April 21 to give the House Committee time to ensure the house was safe after an employee of parliament and a MP had died of Covid-19 complications.
“We do not have this glass box around us for nothing, we did not run away from the vote of no confidence. We ensure workplace safety was in place,” Marape said.
