ABAU MP Sir Puka Temu wants the chairman of Motu Koita Assembly to be a member of parliament and only Motu Koitabuans to contest the Moresby North-West seat.
Sir Puka said this during grievance debate in Parliament on Friday.
He said Motu Koitabuans, the indigenous people of the National Capital District, were privilege to have one of their own elected after the Moresby North-West by-election.
Sir Puka thanked the voters throughout the electorate for putting their faith in Lohia Samuel. “But we also need to create an office in Parliament for the Motu Koitabu chairman to be an MP,” he said.
“That’s how Motu-Koitabu people will be represented equally.”
Sir Puka said the Moresby North-West seat needed to be specially demarcated by law and reserved for Motu Koitabu people.
