Sisters edge Hetura, book final spot in Lae netball

PAGINI Sisters booked the first grand final spot in the A grade division of the Lae Netball Association competition with a 39-34 win over Hetura on Saturday.
In the other A grade playoff Tiare upset FTM Stingers 38-29.
Sisters old hand Jenny Magatu at goal shooter converted most of her chances and was well supported by Betty Aisi, Christine Oscar and mid-courter Talitha Romaso.
Using her height Magatu potted seven points in the first quarter and then added three in the second quarter to out do Hetura defenders Louisa Wallace and Marilyn Djiriov. Aisi contributed seven points to bring Sisters score to 17 at halftime break.
Hetura fought back with Ila Sioni, Kalisita Uru, Eurailya Uru and Marrina Boino working hard to trail Sisters 10-7 in the first quarter and 20-17 at halftime.
Sisters stayed ahead on the scoreboard over the final two frames to crank out a five-point win.
In the other division’s playoff matches, Hetura beat FTM Stingers 22-19 and Pagini Sisters beat Niugini Lagoons 38-12 in the A reserve division.
In the Under-15 playoffs, Hetura held off Lagoons 14-8 while FTM beat Sisters 20-4.
In the U13s, FTM beat Sisters 22-5 and East West Mariegold sunk Lagoons 18-3.
In the U10s, FTM Stingers stung Lagoons 6-5 and Sisters kept Hetura scoreless 9-0.
