TWO sisters pleaded guilty of assaulting another woman they accused of having an affair with one of the sister’s husband in the Lae District Court.
Serah Lengi, 30, and sister Nuwe, 24, from Nawaeb district, Morobe, appeared before magistrate Tera Dawai yesterday.
The court heard that on Oct 14 at around 3pm Serah confronted the victim, Ekiri Tamaita, at Bumayong Market and started questioning her about having an affair with her husband.
Police alleged the two accused punched and kicked Tamaita until she was unconscious and sustained injuries to her face and bled a lot.
Magistrate Dawai told the women that adultery was the mitigating factor.
But since the victim told the accused that she did not have an affair with the husband, they should not have assaulted her.
Magistrate Dawai ordered the two accused to pay a fine of K300 in default six months jail.
