A STRONG attack from Sisters saw them eliminate Magani with a 12-4 win in yesterday’s do-or-die clash of the women’s division in the Port Moresby Rugby Football League.
The washout match from Saturday saw a determined Sisters outfit dominate in the early stages of the game with lock Nancy Milan setting their attack in the forwards.
Enterprising play from Sisters five-eighth Brenda Garo saw second-rower Ruth David drive her way over for their first try of the match five minutes in.
Magani’s defence, led by centre Michelle Bae and PNG Orchid Carol Humeu, helped them fight their way back into the game.
Poor handling from Magani brought Sisters back in with skipper Benoti Kuman scoring their second try for an 8-0 lead at halftime.
Magani started strong in the second half with Humeu stepping in at dummy-half to split the Sisters defence and score their first try to trail 4-8.
A tussle for points in the next 20 minutes saw both sides fail to complete their sets with knock-ons disrupting the match.
But it was Sisters who re-gained their composure as Kuman crossed over for her second try of the match and seal the win.
Sisters now face Royals in an elimination final while Magani bow out of the title race.
The league will move forward with week two of its finals this weekend.
