SISTERS and Paga Panthers played out a scoreless draw in their Port Moresby Rugby League women’s fixture at the National Football Stadium Oval 2 on Monday.
The result was the competition’s second 0-0 draw in as many weeks with Magani and Dobo Warriors failing to score a point in their game last week.
The Panthers gave up their top spot on the ladder with the draw with Royals moving up to equal No.1 spot on 27 points.
Both sides sorely missed their captains in Paga’s Janet Michael Leme and Sisters’ Brenda Goro.
The two were picked in the Southern Confederation side and were not allowed to play club games until after the national zone championships this weekend.
The Paga-Sisters fixture was all evenly contested but the absence of their best players was telling.
In the other match, Hawks stopped Souths 14- 8 in a close finish.
Standings: Top 6 – Royals 27, Panthers 25, Sisters 23, Hawks, 22 Butterflies 22, Souths 20.
PRL chairman Dr James Naipao said all the play offs in the A grade, women’s and Under-20 had been deferred to Aug 19 and the grand final confirmed for Sep 30 at NFS main oval.
Naipao said the decision was made because many clubs had players representing the league in the women and junior divisions at the Confederate championships.
