TABUBIL Netball Association president Maxine Siwi has congratulated her senior and junior netball teams for their outstanding performances at the recent National Netball Championships.

Even though the girls from the Star Mountains, in Western, did not get the major prize, their outstanding skills and athleticism raised eyebrows.

“The Papua New Guinea Netball Federation is proud of the Tabubil Netball Association under my leadership in developing the Under-21 girls to experience this national championship at the highest level,” Siwi said.

Siwi said the U21s performance was outstanding, with the award for the Best Mid Court going to Tucy Pasin of Mill Coppers Club.

“Congratulations Tucy for showing great sportsmanship and taking out the award as best mid court player for the national championships in 2013,” she said.

“We successfully had six U21 girls selected in the U19 development squad to travel to Australia next year but the netball federation is yet to release the names.

“We can all support the girls in whatever way we can  to motivate and encourage them to continue onto the U21 Pepes squad and beyond in their development of netball and the love of the game.”
