SIX people in Lae yesterday received titles for their rented National Housing Corporation houses under its “Give Away” scheme.
NHC Lae manager Andrew Augwi presented the titles to the tenants and acknowledged their patience for the long wait.
“It is the process in the system that has delayed us, the system is only as good as the people in the system,” he told the tenants.
“If due processes and procedures are followed well by all parties involved, then the system will be effective and if not there will always be delays encountered.”
Augwi told the tenants that he was not in a position to tell them why the delay had been so long.
“You are very fortunate, out of the 4000 titles nationwide to be given away by the NHC under the scheme many are still waiting while others have passed on.”
Augwi said NHC was trying to correct the systematic abuses and the new minister was keen to address the issue to get the system to work effectively for the tenants and people.
“National Housing Corporation is determined to make the system work for the people,” he said
