Slack FODE staff cause students to miss out

THE Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE), which gives second chances to students who have dropped out of the mainstream education, lacks dedicated and committed staff.

The results for those students who have been upgrading are not ready so the staff should be blamed for student missing out on placement.

Some of these students need their upgraded marks to find school and because they do not have the marks, hence missed out on selections to continue into the mainstream education.

This is a serious mistake that affects the students as they will have to wait this year and apply next year which is not good because some of them have already lost interest and about to resort to other activities.

FODE should ensure that results are ready prior to the start of the school year so as to give ample time to these unfortunate students to apply and pursue their studies in the mainstream education.

I appeal to responsible authorities to look into how the FODE is managed and identify individuals who are not performing their duties but still getting paid.

Such an institution needs people who are committed and passionate about helping the unfortunate students.
