Smooth polls for Western

POLLING in the four districts of Western Highlands was completed successfully except for Kagamuga which will be held today.

Provincial police commander Supt Martin Lakari said yesterday there were no problems after the polling were completed.

Lakari said polling in the Hagen urban local level government, which was suspended three weeks ago, resumed yesterday and was successfully completed in the afternoon.

“Today, the people living at Kagamuga will cast their votes,” he said.

Lakari, who is a member of the provincial election steering committee, said counting would be done in respective district headquarters.

He said that the counting for Tambul-Nebilyer district started yesterday in Tambul.

He said counting for Dei, Mul-Baiyer and Hagen central would start today and tomorrow respectively.

Lakari said the counting for the Lumusa boxes would be done at the Kimininga police barracks.
