SNIPERS pulled off a much-need 3-1 win over an inform Vailima to stamp their authority in the NCD Nambawan Trophy women’s premier volleyball competition on Saturday. The reigning champions had been struggling to find their rhythm in the opening round.
However, it was a different outfit in the first game of round two.
They gave their fans at the Taurama Leisure Centre a glimpse of why they are a formidable side.
Susan Egahu, Emma Sarufa, Josephine Isaro, Karen Balu, Karrie Pugula and Joan Pia showed an exemplary performance.
A rather shocked Vailima side had their top players in Bala Livares, Mona Konena and Ranny Jack on court and were stunned with their opponents outstanding performance.
In the other women’s games, Bullets failed to keep up their form succumbing to After Dark 3-0, U-Mi Yet edged YWCA 3-2 and Scorpions defeated Idubada 3-2. In the men’s premier matches, Snipers gunned Vailima 3-1, After Dark beat Bullets 3-2 and Ela Motors edged U-Mi 3-2.
