PORT Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association president John Chan says they will cue off their competition only upon Government advice in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
He told The National yesterday that there was nothing much they could do as the Government had extended the nationwide state of emergency by two months.
Chan said although snooker was a non-contact sport, he said adhering to the government directives was the right thing to do.
“The competition hasn’t started as yet,” he said.
“Our venues at Aviat and Car Club are closed as we are following the directives.
“We will only cue off the competition once the Government gives the green light for competitions, tournaments and sporting activities to resume.
“Covid-19 is bigger than any sport and it is a threat to humanity.
“Snooker is not a contact sport. Social distancing is there but again, we must adhere to the directives and that is what we are doing.”
Chan said the association would make an announcement on when the competition would cue off after the state of emergency.
Meanwhile, he said the association had informed its players and officials on Covid-19 and how to stay healthy.
