AN insurance firm, Pacific MMI,  affirmed its support for the Port Moresby Billiard and Snooker Association this year, making it the eighth year of sponsorship for their corporate snooker competition.

The competition starts on February 24 and has three divisions (A, B and C grade), with up to 10 players per team.

PMMI managing director Wayne Dorgan said the support went hand in hand with the company’s corporate responsibility to support sports.

Tournament coordinator Joey Chan said five teams were already confirmed for the 2015 competition and he was expecting three more teams to join.

“Last year we had problems with venues but this year we have three venues,” Chan said.

Negotiations are under way to secure a fourth venue.

He appealed to teams that were trying to get sponsorship to contact him as he had sponsors on stand-by.

“If teams are finding it hard to get sponsorship the board can work out ways to get them corporate backing so I’m asking teams to come forward and state their positions so we can get going for this year.
