PORT Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) are taking the lead in promoting the game at the local association with the launch of the Super League this Sunday at the Bisini Soccer grounds.

The launching will coincide with the reconciliation ceremony between PMSA and the PNG Football Association.

PMSA interim president John Wesley Gonjuan said everyone involved with Port Moresby soccer were excited about the Super League launching.

He said players had embraced the concept because it ensured they were playing at a high level and prepared them for the Telikom National Soccer League.

Gonjuan said the standard of the competition in Port Moresby had declined since they were suspended by the PNGFA in 2008.

The Super League was started to lift the standard of football and to maintain the competition’s viability.

Gonjuan said his committee had invited the PNGFA, the PNG Sports Foundation, the PNG Sports Federation and the 2015 Pacific Games Organising Committee to also come and witness the reconciliation ceremony.

He said he would apologise to two former presidents Fabian Chow and Russel Tsunga.

During the suspension there were tension between the executives, and this was time to say sorry and move on with the football.

Gonjuan said the launching of the Super League will be done by Minister for Sports & 2015 Pacific Games Justin Tkatchenko and NCD Governor Powes Parkop.

The main game after the launching is the Super League grand final replay between University and Yamaros.
