THE Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League has announced its finals format which will see Lae City face Gulf Komara (1pm kick-off) and Hekari United play Vitiaz United (4pm) in Port Moresby on Saturday.
League chairman Benny Popoitai said yesterday that winners would meet in the grand final at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium next Saturday (7pm).
He said all the finals matches would be played in Port Moresby.
“It has been a long season and we are pleased to see the competition come this far to the finals,” Popoitai said.
“Congratulations to the teams that have reached the finals.
“We acknowledge the efforts of Lae City for winning their second-straight minor premiership.
“It takes a lot off effort to win back-to-back minor premiership and they have done well.
“We also thank all the franchises and sponsors for their participation and support this season.”
Competition manager Dimirit Mileng said the ticket prices for Saturday’s semifinals were K10 (outer stand) and K15 (grand stand) while the grand final will see a K10 increase on both prices.
Meanwhile, he said the third-place playoff would kick off at 3pm on the same day as the grand final.
“We have moved the grand final to 7pm due to the schedules of our broadcaster (EMTV),” Mileng said.
“The time chosen is convenient for all parties.
“We want to make sure that football followers across the country can watch the matches too.”
