THREE new clubs have been promoted to the Super League Challenge in the Port Moresby Soccer Association’s 2014 season.

The clubs are Golo, Warriors and Global Sea Eagles from Vabukori.

All three teams were promoted to the top tier competition after outstanding performances in the premier division last year.

The Nambawan Trophy Haus Limited-sponsored Golo were the premiers of the 2013 season.

According to the draws released by PMSA, some notable clubs such as champions Momase and Yamaros in the Super League and Defence in premier division were not included in the draws.

The teams confirmed for the 2014 season include University, Rapatona, Maclaren, Mungkas, Blue Kumuls Cosmos and the new kids on the block, Golo.

Golo were promoted after winning the premier division last year while Police side Blue Kumuls return to the Super League after serving their apprenticeship in premier division.

This weekend Cosmos will take on University in what promises to be a very interesting match to watch tomorrow.

Cosmos with the bulk of the players from Oro FC in the National Soccer League will give University a good run for their money.

Gari Moka is likely to lead the Cosmos outfit along with veteran campaigner Desmond Sow.

University have maintained the cream of the team from last year, and that will really spark up a good challenge against Cosmos.

The boys from the Waigani campus are likely to be under the watchful eyes of Reginald Davani.

Davani will have the support of veteran coaches David Passam and Jackson Ngahan to help him take the side over the weekend.

In the other matches, the newly promoted Golo will have the first feel of the Super League when they take on Maclaren.

Golo is under the coaching of former Papua New Guinea striker Maino Kwalimu which should bring some surprises in the PMSA competition.

On Sunday, Mungkas and Rapatona should have good match.

Both have recruited well during off-season and hopefully they can entertain the football fans with some classic football.

Simultaneously on ground two, another newly-promoted team Global Sea Eagles will play defending champion while Blue Kumuls take on Warriors.

In the women’s Super League, Cosmos has withdrawn its women at the last minute which will allow now Yamaros to face University Inter FC.

Other women’s teams included for this year’ competition include Blue Kumuls, Guria, Global Sea Eagles, Mungkas and Rapatona.
