Society’s leader visits country
THE Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) president Shauna Noonan was recently hosted in the country by ExxonMobil PNG Ltd.
Noonan visited PNG in her capacity as 2020 president of SPE to meet with local engineers and industry leaders as part of a broader tour of the region.
ExxonMobil PNG executive director Keith Killian described Noonan’s visit as a unique and exciting opportunity for young professionals to learn about broader oil and gas industry and the importance of professional networking.
“SPE’s mission in knowledge transfer and developing technical and professional competence aligns well with our ongoing commitment in supporting PNG national content and capability development,” Killian said.
The SPE PNG section was established in 1996 and is looking to expand its membership.
Noonan said it was an honour to speak with the many Papua New Guinean engineers who work in the country’s growing industrial sector.
“I would like to see more young professional engineers become members of SPE’s local section in PNG so they can utilise the excellent capacity building opportunities we provide,” she said.
