Softball Federation hikes fees for affilates

 THE Papua New Guinea Softball Federation has increased the affiliation fee for 2013/14 softball season.

PNGSF vice-president Ralph Tarasomo said the increase in the affiliation fee from K500 to K600 was due to high cost of goods and services experienced in the country.

He asked all centres to ensure that affiliation and nomination fees were paid by January 31. 

Associations that want more information can contact PNGSF treasurer Harry Keket. 

Tarasomo said the East New Britain Softball League is once again hosting the PNG National Fast Pitch Softball titles and centres wishing to participate should begin planning now.

The federation have retained Cleopas Warpit and Makis Vonono are the organisers for the Kokopo national softball titles. 

Meanwhile, the PNGSF has commended the selection committee for their efforts in providing statistics to assist with the selection process. 

The train-on squad will be trimmed down to 25 in Kokopo early next year after the 2014 national softball titles while the final 17 will be confirmed in Port Moresby October 2014. 

PNg are the defending Pacific Games champions having won gold at the 2007 Games in Samoa.  

He said president Chris Bais is satisfied that those selected have met the criteria and urged everyone to show commitment to their individual training programmess.

He said this would determine if they make the 2015 Games squad in the long run. 

In other related news, a special invitation has been extended by the Softball Federation to those interested candidates who want to assist the PNGSF with technical support in the following vacancies in coaching and management positions as follows: assistant men’s coaches (20; assistant women’s coaches women (2); men’s team manger; women’s team manager.
