THIS year’s Corporate Slow Pitch Softball competition was to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.
The 10-week competition, which started in June and ended last weekend, saw 32 mixed teams take part. Eight teams made it into the finals, with four teams announced as winners in pools A to D.
Carmon Jalina, manager of Pool C winners Civil Aviation Safety Authority Papua New Guinea (CASAPNG), said the team were first-timers in the fifth edition of the competition.
Jalina said the competition was a community-changing initiative.
“Sport is meant for networking, managing a healthy workforce and to socialise, as well as raising funds for charity,” Jalina said.
“This year, the support is for Aids awareness, with the slogan ‘hit a home run against HIV/AIDS’.
“For every home run hit, the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association donates money to support the awareness on HIV/AIDS.
