THE PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE) Vudal Campus in Popondetta will be starting the academic year off on a high note thanks to  Sohe MP Delilah Gore.

Gore made a surprise cheque presentation during the graduation of more than 500 Sohe women, who did their financial literacy training at the campus.

“I made a commitment last year to financially assist the Vudal Campus and due to inhouse processes, I am now doing the actual presentation for a sum of K200,000,” Gore said. Director of UNRE Jack Lapauve said he was humbled by the kind gesture of the Sohe people through their MP, as such donations had not been forthcoming for a while.

“It is very rare for donations as such to be made to the campus apart from the annual government funding,” Lapauve said.

He said the institution was the only university in the southern region excluding those in NCD, and for many years leaders had neglected its existence despite it producing many leaders in PNG and the Pacific.

Lapauve assured the Sohe MP that money would be put to the best use.

Gore said the cheque was part of the K400,000 pledged by her administration on behalf of people of Sohe and would continue assistance.
