Soldier killed at Igam Barracks

A SOLDIER was reportedly murdered at the PNG Defence Force Igam Barracks in Lae at the weekend.
His death is one of two reported to police.
Lae metropolitan police commander Iven Lakatani said yesterday the incident happened last Saturday night and the soldier’s body was found on Sunday morning.
The deceased was from East Sepik.
He said several soldiers had been taken to the Lae police station to be interviewed.
Igam Barracks commanding officer Lt-Col John Giregire yesterday confirmed the incident, saying the soldier’s body was found near a road within the
barracks.  
Lae police also reported the alleged killing of a woman at 4-Mile.
Lakatani said the woman, believed to be from Eastern Highlands, was died on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
