SOLDIERS need training regularly to keep fit, Defence Force Support Battalion second-in-command Major Roderick Noyameta says.
“We are making sure our soldiers are receiving regular trainings whenever possible to build their fitness and leadership,” he said.
Noyameta witnessed a field craft and minor tactics competition at Murray Barracks last Friday.
The competition is a lead-up to the battalion’s eighth birthday celebration on November 21.
“We have conducted military skills training competition, sporting competition and other activities as lead-up activities towards our battalion celebrations,” he said.
The competition was between the seven companies in the battalion – Signal, Supply, Workshop, Military Police, Headquarters, Transport and Ceremonial.
Noyameta said the skills used in the competition were usually used during a battle.
“The competition was conducted to give a chance to the Force Support Battalion unit to do military trainings,” he said.
Noyameta said this was because the battalion was a specialised unit providing support and logistics to other battalions when they want to go out on operations.
