SOLDIERS at Moem Barracks in Wewak, East Sepik, are preparing for its 65th anniversary celebrations next month with various activities.

They are members of the Second Battalion, Royal Pacific Islands Regiment.

Second-Lieutenant Joseph Bade said the activities included marching drills, exercises, sporting and fishing competitions and road marches.

Bade said the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and the Support/Administration companies would compete for the honour of carrying the battalion’s colours.

The celebration on March 11 will have a Trooping the Colour parade.

“During this event, a company has the honour of displaying the Queen’s Colours and the Battle Honours of the battalion which are the centre pieces of the parade,” Bade said.

“Points are given to the companies based on their performance.”
