Some competitions put on hold as Apec takes centre stage

Some sporting competitions in Port Moresby will be put on hold this weekend due to the Apec summits, says an official.
The Hohola offseason rugby league competition and the Moresby North-East John Kaupa Cup have been put on hold this weekend and will resume on Nov 24.
Hohola offseason coordinator Roland Andare said the weekend off would allow teams to hold more training sessions and allow injured players to recover.
“We will be heading straight to round four next weekend when the competition resumes,” Andare said.
He also said the women’s matches would start in week five.
Andare called on interested women’s teams to get in touch with competition officials for registration.
The John Kaupa Cup matches are played at the Unagi Oval.
But since some of the city’s roads will be closed for Apec, cup organisers have decided to put this weekend’s matches on hold.
