Sorcery not real

Letters

SORCERY is just superstitious nonsense reinforced by religion.
If you do a bit of reading on how the Catholic Church used to burn witches, not one of these supposed witches were proven guilty.
It was all hearsay and supposition.
They got only forced confessions from tortures.
The women accused were mostly old and lived alone. They were sometimes social outcasts, most likely they were introverts etc…
Back then, medical knowledge was very limited, and science was often challenged by the Catholic Church.
So, if someone died of a heart disease or a rare condition, people would often attribute this to sorcery.
It’s the same in the remote parts of the PNG.
They don’t have proper medical facilities to diagnose patients so the ‘mysterious deaths’ were always blamed on witches.
Keep in mind, I am a Papua New Guinean.
I have heard all the stories about deaths by witchcraft.
About how they found the victims of sorcery with their hearts missing and found grass instead.
It’s all nonsense.
These are all stories and rumours, spread around fires in their huts because they don’t have anything better to do, like watching TVs.
If it was true, the churches would be saying something about this but they’re not and that proves my theory.
