South Fly female rangers qualify to operate small craft

Papua

Twelve female community rangers have qualified to operate small water craft in South Fly, Western, thanks to the Australian government.
Small boats provide access to remote coastal communities so ranger services can be delivered and emergencies and disasters responded to.
The training was delivered under the New Guinea-Australia Decentralisation and Service Delivery Partnership by the Cairns-based Reef and Rainforest Research Centre. Australia’s assistance in South Fly aims to increase the resilience and economic potential of 13 Torres Strait Treaty villages.
