AN MP has paid nearly K4000 to the owner of a vehicle his vehicle collided with while he was reversing at Jackson Airport in Port Moresby.
Sekie Agisa, 43, the South Fly district MP in Western, appeared in the Waigani District Court on Tuesday charged with driving without due care and attention.
The court heard that the complainant, Pologotch Kepiniu, through his lawyer Posman Kua Asis, had written a letter to the court to withdraw the case after the MP had met the cost of the damage.
However, since the matter was already before the court, Agisa pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate Hubert Sareke.
He was convicted, cautioned and discharged without penalty.
It was alleged that on July 19 between 2 and 3am, Agisa was parked at the Jackson’s Domestic Airport public car park.
The court heard that as he reversed his car, it ran into Kepiniu’s vehicle.
Agisa waited for Kepiniu and told him what had happened.
Both men went to the police station and reported the matter before agreeing to settle it.
