THE unpredictable wet weather did not affect the Southern Region League Nines round two played at the National Football Stadium yesterday.
Some teams played in rain and on heavy pitch but that was an added challenge to the young players who were out to prove their fitness and agility.
Team Waidex, one of the seasoned sides walked over Vula’a Parela 20-4 to continue their winning run in pool K after two rounds.
Waidex have taken part in several earlier tournaments only to bow out in the semifinals.
They are determined to better their record this time under coach Bugsy Bagelo Solien and sponsor Bixsie Jaamaan Talagerea.
Solien was optimistic, saying they should make it through with the quality of players they have now in the side which was better than in previous seasons.
In their first round game they beat Lealea Knights 18- 4.
Today they will face Marshall Bugs in the final pool match .
The game will determine who remains on the top to make the play off and quarterfinals tomorrow and semifinals and grand finals on Thursday.
Top sides like Rovanama, Erima Laumas and Miro Koivi (2) all have had a smooth ride so far but will face tough opposition from other teams from Aroma Coast .
The only Gulf team doing well so far is Miro Koivi under the guidance of former PNG Kumuls Stanley Haru, Tuksy Karu and Joshua Kouoru.
