PREPARATIONS are underway for the first Southern Highlands cultural show next month.

The  show, launched in April at Kiburu Lodge, received K50,000 from Mineral Resource Development Corporation (MRDC) managing director Augustine Mano, who is the patron of the show.

Chairman Richard Awesa said the purpose of the show was to promote and preserve the cultures and traditions of Southern Highlands.

Awesa thanked MRDC for sponsoring the show and said Mano had shown great interest in making sure the event became a realty.

Awesa said the show would become  an annual event and they hoped to attract more tourists.

“So far, few tourists have been able to come into the province and nothing has been done to increase the number,” he said.

“Our cultures and traditions are slowly dying out and this show is important to the young generation.

“We are seeking financial assistance from every business house and  organisation,” Awesa said.
